| Seriously, I use circular needles for everything these days, whether it's knitted in the round or not. They're just so easy! And it's so nice to store things, I don't have to worry as much about them sliding off the needle. | | |
| So I found this awesome knit scarf at Wal-Mart, of all places, and it had this really awesome woven pattern. It appears to be sort of a cross between a cable knit and basket weave - the weave isn't perpendicular like a true basket weave but isn't quite like a cable knit either. Anyone know the pattern?

| I felt like after my previous really negative blog I'd post something positive.
I've finished 8 zillion projects (or like 5 small ones) since my last post.
Mom's sweater is completely frogged and in do over mode; I've decided on the 3/4 Sleeve Classic Pullover from the Lion Brand website. I just finished the ribbing for the back and am working my way up. Luckily, Malabrigo yarn seems to join really really well, so all the short strands I have from the previous sweater should come together okay *knock on wood*.
I finished an Amigurumi cat and turtle, two washcloths, and marcus' hat, and all turned out fantastic! (see my ravelry site)
I'm about to invent a felted bag, probably a tote of some sort. Or maybe I won't invent it, who knows.
I NEED to start Aubree's Centerpiece Treasure Afghan, so it will be done before Christmas...
So many projects, so little time!

| Raise your hand if you'd want a crowd of people ogling you like a naked stripper after you'd just been in a car accident.
Okay, if you raised your hand you should leave, because that's just creepy.
I was out practicing on the roping dummy this evening when I heard a BIG wreck on the other side of a nearby church. Being helpful, I ran over to see if everyone was okay, and heard someone calling 911. There were three cars, all eastbound traffic was blocked, and people were hurt. I stood away from traffic because there was mass confusion, and other people were coming from side streets - two of which said they were paramedics. So as I was walking away, I realized it had been a LONG time since they'd called 911. Like 5 minutes. For a town of 25,000. So I faced a moral dilemma - start the timer, or call 911 again. So I called 911 again. Here's how the call went:
ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring (I think it rang that many times) 911 Dispatcher: "911, what is your emergency?" Ashley: "Where are your officers at Kingston and Vandament? Th-" 911: "Ijustgotthecalltheofficersareontheirwayclick"
That's right, the dispatcher hung up on me! Soon after I heard sirens, all of them coming from the east side of town. Why wouldn't you spread your officers out? Or have a faster response time?
But I digress. The whole point of this angry blog was the empathy and compassion of all my neighbors. I was on my way back to my apartment to let the people suffer in peace, while my neighbors were pouring out of their apartments like rats from a sinking ship. COME ON! If you were in a huge wreck would you want people coming out to see you suffer? I know I wouldn't. That's why I left, I wasn't needed and what was going on was none of my business.
After the hullaballoo, here's what I've learned: 1. Don't rely on Yukon Police Department. 2. 911 dispatch in Yukon is grossly understaffed. 3. While people are inherently good, many have a want to feed off other people's pain. 4. I'm buying a gun so I can protect myself in the stead of YPD.

| You know, the tags you sew into things to tell people how to care for them and who made them? Or does anyone have any ideas for making them myself with little effort?
